Brno Besedni DumTuesday February 1st, 2011

Recital in Besední dům of Brno.

Program: Debussy, Chopin, Prokofiev, Schumann and Liszt.

“The Assembly Chamber”: This splendid building built in 1871 – a culminating point of palatial neoclassic style – was designed by the architect of the Musikverein of Vienna, Theophil von Hansen.
It hosts the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, one of oldest in Europe, and currently directed by Aleksandar Markovic. Historically related to the Czech composer Leos Janacek, it has presented the major part of his work since the fifties.
